Week 1: Introduction to Spain

Spain is a country on Europe's Southwestern peninsula, their capital city being Madrid and are known as one of the largest countries in the world. Spain is known for their culture, beautiful cities, and even cooking! It takes over 85 percent of Iberian peninsula and is neighbors with Portugal and stretches south from Pyrenees mountains to the strait of Gibraltar, separating Spain from Africa. East of Spain lies the Mediterranean sea and west is the Atlantic ocean. Spain rules two cities in North Africa and canary islands in the Atlantic. It is filled with castles, mountains, monuments, which have made it a very touristic spot. When it comes to diversity Spain is there in terms of climate, geography and more with their population being over 45 million. The interior side of Spain is surrounded by mountain ranges and rivers that run by the coast so it creates amazing farmland. It tends to get hot in the summer but cold and dry in the winter so droughts and other natural hazards are common in this country.
